Capital Cup for Kids Supports the Ronald McDonald House

Tim Hamilton (Wealth Management Advisor), team captain for Elks Lodge #49, played in the “Capital Cup for Kids,” an annual hockey tournament that raises money for the Ronald MacDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. The tournament, held from April 26th to May 5th, was celebrating its tenth year, it was Elks Lodge #49’s second year of participation, and Atlas’ second year as a “Hart” level sponsor. Tim’s team raised nearly $7,000 for 2019 and the tournament made over $200,000.

Four-year-old, Azalea, was the “honorary captain” for Tim’s team this year. She was diagnosed with amplified high risk neuroblastoma in 2017. She is currently in her second round of treatment at Albany Medical Center.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home,” free of charge, for families of children facing life-threatening conditions. Thanks to generous donors, volunteers, and the community, the families of children undergoing medical treatment can stay in a safe, supportive environment without the need to worry about the basic necessities. The Albany Institute of History & Art is one of the oldest museums in the United States. It houses a unique collection of the Upper Hudson Valley region’s artwork and artifacts, and many other pieces of local and national significance. See for events, exhibitions, and more information.

Going Green: Free Shredding and Shopping Totes

Protect your identity and recycle at the same time! The Albany, Atrium Drive office is now offering free shredding for our clients. The shredding bin is located in the lobby adjacent to the entrance. If you’re looking for other ways to protect yourself from identity theft, see for helpful hints.

In response to the New York State plastic bag ban, effective next March, we are also offering our clients free Atlas shopping totes (while supplies last). It is estimated that New Yorkers use 23 billion plastic bags a year. As these bags do not degrade, they oftentimes end up as litter, clogging our roads and waterways, posing threats to our wildlife, and ending up in our landfills. Greenhouse gas emissions also rise as a result of their production and disposal. Join Atlas in the effort to promote a more environmentally-friendly New York. In March 2020, New York will join California and Hawaii as the only states that prohibit the use of single-use bags.
