Around the Community: Fall cleaning, stepping in, and stepping up

On October 7th team members wore pink to support the Pink-out for Making Strides Albany’s Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. The Atlas team rallied together to fundraise for Making Strides Albany and raised over $1,000, and will continue their efforts until the end of the month to continue to raise awareness. By supporting the Making Strides movement, individuals can help secure research funding for the American Cancer Society to continue their fight. For more information on Making Strides and the American Cancer Society, visit Learn About | American Cancer Society (acsevents.org).

Team members of Atlas were able to gather and support maintenance efforts at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. During these visits, team members got to see firsthand the kind of experience and services families supported by RMHC-CR are given. To say it was a privilege to help them for those days wouldn’t speak enough to the experience. Team members grabbed rakes, wheelbarrows of mulch, paint brushes, and even the occasional power tool to help restore the grounds of the “House that Love Built” for families to stay in.

On September 21st team members took in some fresh air and laced up their sneakers to bring awareness for the “Read for RMHC-CR” by participating in the “Rainbow Read Run.” Due to health and safety concerns, the run was held all month long virtually. Read for RMHC-CR is a reading-based community service program that empowers elementary and middle school students to develop lifelong reading comprehension skills while supporting children and families of the Capital Region. This along with other efforts to come are just a small part we can play to help support the RMHC-CR team and the families they serve.  For more information, you can visit… Read for RMHC-CR – Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region (rmhcofalbany.org).
