Welcome to ‘Planning on Call,’… a series of podcasts, blog posts, and other content focused on providing medical professionals, and their spouses, the important information they need to know as they plan their future.

I would encourage you to listen to the first ‘Planning on Call’ podcast episode – it is brief introduction to  the type of content we will be putting together for physicians moving forward, which can be found here:

For those of you that are not a fan of podcasts, or perhaps don’t have the time to listen to full episodes, look for my blog series where you can find the summarized version of key takeaways from each episode.

I wanted to start out by giving you the rundown of what to expect from the ‘Planning on Call’ series. If you’ve made it this far, you probably know that I am a Financial Planner by trade. So, why the focus on medical professionals? In addition to being a Senior Vice President & Wealth Management Advisor at Atlas Private Wealth Management, I am also the husband of a plastic surgeon, the son of an orthopedic surgeon, the brother of a hospital director, and the nephew of a hospital CEO. Working with medical professionals is in my bones, even if actual blood and guts makes me queasy. If you are interested in knowing more about my professional or personal background, you can find more on me here.

I spent my childhood watching my mother become a trailblazer in the field of sports medicine. For most of my adult life, I’ve supported my wife as she accomplished her dream of becoming a plastic surgeon. As a result of this journey, I’ve learned a few things along the way. First, it’s not an easy path. All of it. Whether it be the process of becoming a physician or developing a successful practice, and possibly starting a family, if that’s also part of your plan. Second, everyone needs help accomplishing their goals, no matter how smart or driven they are. Last, the end goal is worth it – doctors have the ability to work in a career that they hopefully enjoy, where they get to help people and are well compensated for their efforts.

With this series, I’ll be taking time to answer the questions that have affected me, my family, and my extended network. Questions discussed extend from within the world of finance that physicians and their families have asked me, as well as questions derived outside of finance in areas such as physical and mental health, job recruitment, and small business planning. To answer these questions I will talk to insurance, investment, and debt professionals, as well as therapists, nutritionists, headhunters, and life coaches.

Check back in with me as I drive to answer the questions that will help physicians and their spouses grow successful careers, families, and lives.
