GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

Crossroads Center for Children – Atlas was a proud gold sponsor for the Crossroads Gala held on March 3, 2018, where the event highlighted a “Dare to be Different!” theme. Crossroads Center for Children opened in Glenville, New York in 1998 as a private non-profit school serving a small group of children diagnosed with autism. Today the school is located in Schenectady County and enrolls approximately 80 children from 20 school districts from the surrounding eight counties. Additionally, the school now enrolls typically developing students for their integrated daycare program. Integration in preschool and beyond is becoming increasingly common as the advantages for both students with disabilities and their typically developing peers are recognized.

Northern Berkshire PhenomsKollin Allard, Wealth Management Advisor, continues to run their basketball program based out of North Berkshire County, MA. The Northern Berkshire Phenoms are a boys basketball team, established in 2014, by Kollin. The program was set up in an effort to keep kids off of the street and focused on something bigger. The organization has continued to grow and consists of a dedicated group of ballplayers and coaches based out of North Berkshire County, MA. Players travel from the Berkshires to compete in tournaments throughout New England and New York. More important than the wins and losses, their mission is to help their players apply the traits learned on the court to life off of it.

Best Buddies Walk – The Atlas Strong team will be participating in the upcoming Best Buddies Walk on Sunday, April 22nd being held at Crossgates Mall in Albany, NY. The purpose of the walk is to help raise awareness and funds to support inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with IDD. Their programs empower the special abilities of people with IDD by helping them form meaningful friendships with peers; secure successful jobs; live independently; improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills; and feel valued by society.
